Program

The Tongue Twisters program is divided into eight lessons customized to address each individual student’s needs based on a private comprehensive assessment.

An initial evaluation will last approximately thirty minutes. The student will be interviewed regarding his/her linguistic history, ESL training, and speech goals then recorded reading a short paragraph aloud. A $250.00 deposit is required at this time.

Each fifty minute class consists of sounds, concepts and patterns of English, oral practice, and observations from the instructor. We teach our students basic technical linguistic terms and methods to help them analyze the physical actions involved in each sound so they can understand the changes needed. We teach them to analyze and improve their own articulation. Our class also teaches recognition of common expressions and confusing speech patterns so students can listen and speak with greater accuracy. However, because learning a new accent means learning new habits, practice between lessons is essential for improvement.

For an additional $41.00, an optional progress evaluation can be completed near the end of the program to assess improvement.

The standard program costs $579.00 (including the $250.00 deposit). This consists of:

For a class of two students, the cost is $449.00 per student. Having more than two students in a class reduces the amount of personal attention and feedback which is fundamental for improvement so large groups will be divided into pairs. A student’s goals, areas of concern and amount of time they commit to practice will determine if additional lessons are required.

Lessons will be conducted at a mutually suitable location: in our North East Calgary office or at an on-site office.
